Simple Hacks for Your Kitchen
Simple and easy kitchen hacks will make your work smoother and more fun. Working in the kitchen will now no more appear a tiring task. Here are a few quick kitchen hacks for you.
- Remove pomegranate seeds: To get the arils of pomegranate, slice it in half around the middle. Then hold the fruit upside down over a bowl and whack the back of the pomegranate with the wooden spoon. The arils will quickly come out.
- Prevent potatoes from getting brown: If you are peeling potatoes in advance and do not want them to get brown, then cover them with cold water after peeling. This action will keep the potatoes in their original colour. If you keep the peeled potatoes overnight, then too, this hack will work.
- Keep the cookies soft: For keeping your freshly baked cookies soft for a longer time, while storing the min airtight containers, add a slice of store-bought white bread. This will keep your cakes, cookies and muffins soft and fresh for longer.
- Freeze the sauces: It is a great idea to freeze small portions of homemade sauce in egg cartons. Cover and freeze the single-serving sauces in egg cartons, then transfer the cubes of this sauce to a resealable freezer bag.
- Easily stir peanut butter: For using peanut butter, it takes a lot of effort to mix the oil into the peanut butter. To save your effort, you can store the jar upside down and, for using it, turn the jar right side up. If you do this, the oil will rise back to the top, and it will take much less effort to mix oil with the peanut butter.
- Smoothly grate the cheese: Grating the cheese often sticks to the grater and takes a lot of effort. For a smooth and easy grating experience, use a quick spritz of cooking spray on the cheese grater to prevent cheese from sticking.
- Prepare small portions of whipped cream: Usually, whipped cream is prepared in medium to large batches, but if you need just a small amount, then you can prepare it by using this hack. Use your immersion blender to make a single serving. Then, fit this blender into a tumbler or measuring cup and prepare the desired amount for yourself.
- Keep the lunch boxes neat and presentable: In the tiffin boxes, you keep different items. Some are salty, and some are sweet, but they often mix and disturb each other’s tastes. To prevent this, you can use cupcake liners to organize a lunch box into separate sections.
- Get more juice from lemon and lime: Before squeezing a lemon for juice, microwave it for 7 to 10seconds and then roll the lemon back and forth under your palm on the counter. Then, when you squeeze the lemon, you will get more juice with much less effort. It would help if you tried this with limes also.
- Balance salt in a soup: Sometimes, the soup becomes salty, and we need help to balance its salt. In such situations, you can use raw apples or potatoes. First, put in a few wedges of raw apple or potato. Simmer it for 10 minutes, and then remove the wedges. The flavour of the soup will get back to normal.
